1. Medical disclaimer
Plain English: Kanso helps you track wellness habits, but it is not medical care, and you should not make treatment decisions based on app output.
Kanso is a general wellness and self-tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of any disease or condition.
The information, estimates, calculations, charts, goals, and suggestions presented in Kanso (including calorie and macro targets, trends, and any text produced with the help of automated systems) are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not tailored to your individual clinical situation unless a qualified licensed healthcare professional has expressly directed you to use specific values.
Always seek the advice of your physician, registered dietitian, or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, medications, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, eating disorders, metabolic disease, or before starting, stopping, or changing any diet, exercise, or treatment plan. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read or entered in Kanso.
IF YOU ARE UNDER THE CARE OF A PHYSICIAN FOR A CHRONIC CONDITION (SUCH AS DIABETES OR KIDNEY DISEASE), DO NOT USE KANSO WITHOUT THEIR EXPRESS WRITTEN APPROVAL.
If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.
Accuracy of nutritional and body data
Calorie and macro values—whether from manual entry, databases, or automated estimation—are inherently approximate. Portion sizes, preparation methods, product formulations, and individual absorption vary. Weight, BMI-style calculations, and trends depend on accurate inputs and consistent measurement; Kanso does not guarantee correctness or completeness of any value you or third-party tools supply.
Automated and AI-assisted features
Kanso uses automated systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs), for features such as meal analysis and fueling suggestions. LLMs are known to occasionally generate inaccurate, incomplete, stale, or hallucinated outputs. You remain fully responsible for reviewing and correcting entries before relying on them.
Do not make medical, nutrition, insulin, medication, hydration, or other health decisions based solely on AI-generated fueling suggestions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Enso Labs LLC disclaims liability for losses, injuries, or adverse outcomes arising from reliance on any AI-generated content.
Not intended for everyone
Kanso is strictly intended for use by individuals 18 years of age or older. Kanso is not specialized for clinical meal planning for conditions such as diabetes, renal disease, or food allergies unless your care team has approved your approach.
Limitation of liability (health-related)
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Enso Labs LLC and its contributors disclaim liability for any loss, injury, or adverse health outcome arising from or related to your use of the application, including reliance on estimates, goals, or reminders. You assume full responsibility for your dietary and lifestyle choices.
2. Terms of service
Plain English: These are the rules for using Kanso. If you use the service, you agree to follow them and resolve disputes in Texas courts.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Kanso application and related services ("Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or other users.
License to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial tracking purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract source code from the Service except as allowed by mandatory law.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in violation of any law or third-party rights.
- Upload malware, probe or stress systems without authorization, or interfere with other users' access.
- Scrape, harvest, or automate access to the Service in a way that impairs performance or bypasses security.
- Misrepresent your identity or submit data you do not have the right to use.
User content and data
You retain ownership of information you enter (such as meal descriptions and logs). You grant us the rights necessary to host, process, back up, and display that content solely to operate and improve the Service, as further described in our Privacy Policy. You represent that your content does not infringe others' rights and is not unlawful.
Third-party services
The Service relies on infrastructure and authentication providers (for example, hosting and database services). Their terms and privacy practices may also apply. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Enso Labs LLC, its affiliates, or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) zero if the Service is provided without charge. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Enso Labs LLC, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
Changes and termination
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. We will post updated Terms with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or discontinue the Service or your access with or without notice, especially for breach or risk to security. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity) will survive termination.
Payments and refunds
Kanso may be offered without a mandatory paid subscription. If we introduce paid subscriptions, one-time purchases, or similar fees, we will describe pricing and billing terms at the point of purchase. Unless we expressly state otherwise at checkout, paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period for another period of the same length, at the then-current price (plus applicable taxes), until you cancel. You can cancel before the next renewal date through your account settings or, where the Service is distributed through a third-party store (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play), through that store's subscription management tools.
All sales are final. Fees are non-refundable except (a) where required by applicable law, (b) where the payment processor or app store grants a refund under its own rules, or (c) where we expressly offer a different guarantee in writing at the time of purchase. Nothing in this section limits statutory rights that cannot be waived in your jurisdiction (for example, certain cooling-off or withdrawal rights where they apply to digital content).
For billing questions (charges, renewals, receipts), contact us at support@ensolabs.cc.
Governing law
These Terms and any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any legal action or proceeding must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
Class action waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by law, all disputes must be brought only on an individual basis. You and Enso Labs LLC each waive any right to participate as a plaintiff, class member, or representative in any purported class action, collective action, private attorney general action, or class-wide arbitration.
3. Privacy policy
Plain English: We collect only what we need to run Kanso, do not sell personal data, and provide support and legal contacts for requests.
This Privacy Policy explains how Kanso ("we," "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use our application and related services ("Service"). By using the Service, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Who we are
Kanso is operated by Enso Labs LLC, a Texas-based company. For support requests, contact support@ensolabs.cc. For legal and privacy requests, contact support@ensolabs.cc.
Information we collect
- Account and authentication: Email address and authentication identifiers from our identity provider (for example, Supabase Auth), session tokens, and timestamps related to sign-in.
- Profile and goals: Information you provide such as sex, age, height, weight, goal weight, activity level, and calculated or manual calorie and macro targets.
- Food and activity logs: Meal descriptions, meal times, slot (e.g., breakfast), estimated or entered calories, macronutrients, favorites, and related metadata you save to your journal.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and similar data that our hosting provider or infrastructure may log for security, abuse prevention, and operations.
Meal photos — not stored
Kanso sees your meal, but never keeps it. Unlike many apps, we do not store your photos in any database. We extract nutritional information for logging—such as protein, fiber, and macros—and then permanently discard the image. Your kitchen, your plate, and your privacy stay yours.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
- Store and display your logs, goals, and analytics within the app;
- Process meal descriptions when you request analysis features (which may involve automated or AI-based estimation);
- Communicate about the Service, respond to requests, and enforce our Terms; and
- Comply with law and protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the Service.
Legal bases (where applicable)
Depending on your region, we rely on one or more of: performance of a contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (such as security and product improvement, balanced against your rights), consent (where required, e.g., certain cookies or marketing), and legal obligation.
Sharing and subprocessors
We use service providers to run Kanso. Your data may be processed by:
- Supabase (or equivalent) for authentication, database storage, and related APIs;
- Hosting and AI providers when you use features that analyze text (meal descriptions may be sent to a model provider to return nutrition estimates). Those providers process data under their terms and as our subprocessors.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share data with advertisers for cross-site tracking. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of users and others.
AI analysis and model training
Data sent to AI providers for analysis is not used to train third-party models.
For deployments using OpenAI-compatible APIs, requests are sent with settings that avoid storing completions for retrieval where the provider supports it (for example, store: false on Chat Completions). Operators should also enable Zero Data Retention or No training (or equivalent) in the provider's dashboard for the API keys used by this application. For Google Gemini, configure the same class of controls in Google AI Studio or Google Cloud for the project tied to your API key, per Google's documentation.
Retention
We retain your account and log data until you delete it or close your account, unless a longer period is required for security, backups, or legal compliance. Backups may persist for a limited time after deletion before being overwritten.
Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data (including encryption in transit where configured, access controls, and provider-side safeguards). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; you use the Service at your own risk.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can correct much of your data in the app. For other requests, contact support@ensolabs.cc. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
If we decline to take action on a privacy request, you have the right to appeal our decision by contacting us through the same channels.
Children
Kanso is strictly intended for use by individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, contact support@ensolabs.cc and we will take steps to delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) or your consent for transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes may be highlighted in the app or by email where appropriate.
